Culminating a week of events surrounding Hillary Clinton, FBI Director James Comey determined that he would not recommend prosecuting the former Secretary of State over her private email system.
Comey’s decision was a surprise given the number of issues his investigative team found regarding the way Clinton handled secret information. Comey’s finding that Clinton was “extremely careless” with handling classified information meets the plain understanding of a gross negligence criminal statute but he decided not to prosecute on that legal standard.
In this week’s edition of “The Buzz,” Deneen describes the media and political momentum supporting Clinton leading up to Comey’s decision and what this decision means to our country.
